The UK government has arranged a series of mobile alert tests to make sure members of the public can receive information in an emergency. It’s running trials in North Yorkshire, Glasgow and Suffolk with EE, O2 and Vodafone.
Two different technologies are being tested: location-based SMS text messaging and cell broadcast messages.

Vodafone UK has announced the successor to Guy Laurence.
Mr Laurence is leaving his CEO role after five years to become President and Chief Executive Officer of Rogers Communications in Canada.

Supermarket chain Asda is moving its UK virtual mobile network to EE from the end of next month.
The Asda Mobile MVNO, which was launched six years ago, currently uses the Vodafone network.
