Canonical, the company behind the Linux-based Ubuntu open-source platform, has announced what it’s calling “the world’s first Ubuntu phone”.
The Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition is being produced in partnership with Spanish electronics and software company BQ.

Reseller deals are in place with EE, O2 and Vodafone
The Dixons Carphone Group, formed last summer when Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse merged, says it’ll launch a virtual mobile network this spring in partnership with Three UK.
The MVNO deal promises “innovative and highly personalised connectivity options”, according to the company.

Cloud-based point-of-sale specialist Vend has announced a partnership with mobile payment provider iZettle.
It’s integrating the iZettle credit card reader with the Vend Register iPad App, making it easier for retailers to take payments without using a traditional cash register.
