Shazam uses its mobile technology to predict the music stars of 2012

Mobile music discovers service Shazam has been taking a look back at 2011 and predicting the music artists to watch in 2012.

The service, which enables consumers to identify tunes using their mobile phones, has analysed customer data to create a list of the music acts it thinks are most likely to succeed next year.

Quarterly results released by RIM

Research In Motion has reported its third quarter results for the three months until 26th November 2011.

It says 14.1 BlackBerry smartphones were shipped in the quarter, along with 150,000 PlayBook tablets. In total, there are now around 75 million BlackBerry users worldwide.

New research says 35 million NFC phones were shipped this year

A new report by IMS Research says 35 million NFC-equipped mobile phones have been shipped worldwide this year - with the figure expected to approach 80 million by the end of 2012.

The research business also notes the increasing number of partnerships involving Near Field Communications.

Mobile Marketing Association revises guidelines for mobile ads

The Mobile Marketing Association has released a revised version of its mobile advertising guidelines.

It’s asking for feedback on the ‘Universal Mobile Ad Package’ before the final version is released in January 2012.
