A new research report from comScore shows that the number of Europeans accessing news on their smartphones has risen by 74% in the past year.
Its study of ‘mobile news’ access in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom revealed that almost 37% of all smartphone users looked at online news via an app or web browser, an increase of 74% over the past year.

Google has launched a UK-based initiative called ‘GetMo’ that’s intended to help UK businesses make their websites more mobile friendly.
It follows the creation of a similar ‘GoMo’ campaign in the USA last year.

Mobile research company On Device Research has released a report that looks at the number of web users who only access the internet through their mobile phones.
While around 25% of UK mobile internet users don’t ever use a PC for web access, that figure rises to 38% for Chinese mobile web users. In rural areas of China, the figure is even higher, with 45% of rural Chinese mobile web users admitting to being mobile only.

Sony Mobile Communications has announced a new Android-powered smartphone. The Sony Xperia sola has a 1GHz dual-core processor, a 3.7-inch display and a 5 megapixel camera.
Notable features include NFC connectivity and what the company is calling ‘floating touch’ navigation.
