47% of mobile app users in the USA say they click on more mobile ads by mistake than they do deliberately, according to new research.
It suggests almost half of mobile ad spending is wasted.

Following hot on the heels of IDC’s quarterly analysis comes a report from ABI Research.
They’ve estimated that 390 million mobile phones were shipped in the fourth quarter of 2010, up 15.6% year-on-year, resulting in an annual total of 1.36 billion.

As manufacturers release their quarterly results, so analysts calculate what the figures mean. The latest of those reports comes from the International Data Corporation, which says the worldwide mobile phone market grew 17.9% in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Its Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker report says 401.4 million mobile devices were shipped in Q4, bringing 2010’s total to 1.39 billion units. That’s up 18.5% from the 1.17 billion units shipped in 2009.

Microsoft Corp has announced record second-quarter revenue of $19.95 billion for the three-month period that ended on 31st December. Operating income was $8.17 billion and net income was $6.63 billion.
Sales of the Kinect sensor – and associated Xbox sales – drove a 55% growth in revenue for Microsoft’s Entertainment & Devices Division.
