Mobile technology company Qualcomm has announced record figures for the first quarter of its 2011 financial year.
Revenue was up 25% year-on-year to $3.35 billion, while net income was up 39% year-on-year for the quarter to $1.17 billion.

British Sky Broadcasting – better known by many as BSkyB or Sky – has acquired WiFi operator The Cloud. The deal was agreed on 11th January but has only just been made public.
Sky says the deal will give it ownership of over 5,000 public WiFi locations across the UK.

Nokia has published its Q4 2010 figures, which show net sales of 12.7 billion Euro. That’s up 6% year-on-year, although the rise is due to international currency rates.
The company shipped a total of 123.7 million mobile devices in Q4 2010, down 3% year-on-year.

Unify Mobile is the latest company to sign a MVNO deal with Three UK.
A UK launch by Unify is planned in the Spring; it already operates mobile services in Switzerland, the USA, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands and Germany.

Online professional network LinkedIn has acquired CardMunch, a young Californian company with an app to convert business cards into electronic contacts.
CardMunch had previously sold its iPhone app via the Apple App Store; a BlackBerry app is in development.
