A new Juniper Research report says a growing consumer acceptance of in-game purchases and a sharp rise in smartphone adoption will push sales of in-game products & services from $2.1 billion last year to $4.8 billion in 2016.
In addition, tablet-based gaming will increase; a third of mobile games revenues will come from tablet downloads by 2016.

Patent management and licensing business Sisvel International has acquired more than 450 patents and applications originally filed by Nokia. The patents and patent applications, which form 47 ‘patent families’, cover technologies used in a wide range of mobile communications devices and services.
Nokia is licensed under the portfolio as part of the acquisition.

The CBI, which campaigns on behalf of businesses, says the the Government needs to ‘think big’ when it publishes its forthcoming Communications Bill.
It points out that the UK is already a major global player in communications, with this business sector worth at least £50 billion a year to the economy.
