Angry Birds helps game-maker Rovio double its annual revenue

Multimedia business Rovio Entertainment, best known for creating the Angry Birds mobile game, has announced its financial results for 2012.

Revenue for the year was up 101% from 2011, reaching €152.2 million (£129 million).

Happy anniversary to the first mobile phone call (sort of)

Mark Bridge writes:

Today is the 40th anniversary of what’s often called the first ever mobile phone call.

It was 3rd April 1973 when Marty Cooper of Motorola stood in front of a crowd of reporters in New York and used a handheld mobile phone to call the fixed-line phone of Dr Joel Engel, one of his commercial rivals.
