HTC First becomes the first smartphone preloaded with Facebook Home

Today Facebook has announced ‘Home’, a new Android-based application that offers a Facebook-centred experience on compatible mobile phones.

The first handset that’ll be preloaded with Facebook Home is the HTC First. It’ll be available on AT&T in the United States from Friday 12th April and will then have an exclusive UK launch on EE in the summer.

Research shows more than 10 million Brits are using public WiFi every week

New research published by WiFi provider The Cloud shows that more than 10 million Brits use public WiFi each week via smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.

That figure, which comes from data collected by market research company Canadean in November 2012, equates to 22% of the UK adult population.

Facebook has launched a new mobile application called ‘Home’, although the social network insists it’s “more than just an app”.

Installing Home on a compatible Android smartphone customises the device with Facebook features. There’s a new home screen with Facebook content and the ability to chat via Facebook Messenger when using other apps.

BlackBerry to close BBM Music service

BlackBerry is reported to be closing the BBM Music service in June, less than two years after it was launched.

BBM Music was announced in August 2011 and came to the UK in November of that year.
