A report by Ovum shows that a significant number of smartphones are now using more powerful hardware for graphics and video processing, moving to ARM Cortex A8 and Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. However, Ovum analyst Tim Renowden says Nokia appears to be lagging behind the performance curve, with a specification gap opening between it and rivals.
"Extra hardware grunt provides a significant boost to user experience", he says, "but Nokia is struggling to keep pace with its rivals in this respect, with only the niche N900 handset sporting a next-generation chipset."
O2 has unveiled Think Big, a scheme that's designed to offer financial support to young people who are making a difference in their communities.
Young people aged between 13 and 25 can apply for a £300 grant to run projects that will help their local communities. The participants will also benefit from a comprehensive package of training and support through O2’s charity partners. They'll also have the opportunity to apply for a further £2,500 to boost their project.
