ABI Research regularly forecasts technology trends – but as the year comes to a close it’s taken a different perspective. In fact, while many organisations use the festive season as an excuse for looking at the shape of things to come, ABI Research has predicted technology trends that won’t be happening in the following 12 months.

A new research report from Berg Insight predicts that the global mobile marketing and advertising market will grow from €1.7 billion last year to €13.5 billion in 2015, representing a compound annual growth rate of 41%. That’ll correspond to 15.7% of the total digital ad market and 3.4% of the total global spend for all advertising media.

Music discovery service Shazam, which enables its users to identify tunes using their mobile phones, has produced a list of the music acts it thinks are most likely to succeed in 2011.

Sony has confirmed it’s working on a PlayStation mobile application. In a post on the PlayStation blog, the company says the app will be launched “very soon”.
