Barnes & Noble cuts Nook tablet prices in the UK

Last month bookseller Barnes & Noble announced that its Nook tablets wouldn’t be produced as own-brand devices any more.

Although it would maintain the production of its eBook readers, the next generation of Nook colour-screen tablets would be co-branded with third-party manufacturers.

Insurance business PAS fined £2.8 million for poor handling of Phones 4u mobile phone insurance complaints

The Financial Conduct Authority has fined insurance intermediary Policy Administration Services Limited over £2.8 million for poor complaints handling between June 2009 and September 2011.

PAS administered mobile phone insurance policies sold by Phones 4u, which meant it handled claims, complaints and other customer relations.

Android vulnerability could affect 900 million devices, says Bluebox Security

Mobile security startup Bluebox Security is warning of an Android issue that makes 99% of all Android-based devices vulnerable to attack.

The vulnerability would enable a hacker to turn legitimate apps into malicious software without the user realising.

EE launches double-speed 4G, 'pay as you go' 4G and contactless payment service

EE has switched on its double-speed 4G service in 12 cities across the UK, increasing its current average mobile data speeds to 24-30Mbps.

The higher speeds will initially be available at no extra cost to existing 4GEE customers as part of a promotional offer.
