ExclusiveEricsson to manage the radio access network for Three UK and EE

Mobile Broadband Network Limited, the joint venture owned by Three UK and EE, has given Ericsson a five-year contract to manage its radio access network in the UK.

MBNL was originally formed in 2007 to provide Three and T-Mobile with better service by combining their 3G masts and associated infrastructure.

Online security company Kaspersky Lab has published details of a mobile application that it describes as ‘the most sophisticated’ Android malware it’s ever seen.

The file - now being referred to as Backdoor.AndroidOS.Obad.a - is capable of sending text messages to premium rate numbers, downloading and installing more malware, sending malware via Bluetooth and performing other commands.

South Korean multimedia device manufacturer Xtreamer has launched a smartphone called the Xtreamer JoyZ.

The new device runs Android ‘Jelly Bean’ on a 1.4GHz Samsung quad-core processor and has a 4.7-inch screen along with a 13 megapixel camera.

Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda, has called on European MPs to end mobile roaming charges.

In a statement, she said “I want you to be able to go back to your constituents and say that you were able to end mobile roaming costs. I want you to be able to say that you saved their right to access the open internet, by guaranteeing net neutrality. I want you to be able to say we took real action on cybercrime and other threats.”
