Sagem plans fingerprint security on new Android devices

Sagem Wireless has formed a partnership with fingerprint authentication company UPEK to put fingerprint identity capabilities on a range of new Sagem devices later this year, including new Android-based handsets.

The new devices would enable users to identify themselves by 'swiping' a finger, avoiding the need to enter usernames and account numbers when accessing mobile banking and online shopping sites.
