T-Mobile UK has announced that it's trialling iSkoot Notifier, a free mobile application that allows customers to simplify their social networking. iSkoot Notifier is available as a free download and doesn't need a 'smartphone'; it'll work on a range of feature phones including the Sony Ericsson W595, Sony Ericsson W705 and Sony Ericsson W995 (all of which support T-Mobile's new 'virtual menu').
iSkoot Notifier is based on proprietary technology from San Francisco-based iSkoot that's already being used by social media apps on AT&T and Verizon Wireless in the US. It's called the Kalaida Mobile Web Services Platform and only requires a single user name and password, with its optimised connection reducing data costs.

Leading UK distributor Avenir Telecom has announced an exclusive European partnership with battery manufacturer Energizer for the design, manufacture and distribution of a new range of new mobile device chargers. They'll be previewed at Mobile World Congress and will be available in thirty countries from June 2010.
All Energizer products are Energy Star Level 5 and EUP compliant, which means they save 30% of the power consumed by standard chargers, and they're also capable of charging phones much quicker than other chargers. The chargers are equipped with auto cut-off functionality, which stops drawing electricity as soon as a device is fully charged.
