Google has announced a new search option for users with Android-powered mobile phones. Google Goggles lets you search using images taken with the mobile phone's camera. The company says it's currently particularly good at generating results from pictures of books, DVDs, landmarks, logos, contact information, artwork, businesses, products, barcodes and text.
Next year looks likely to see GPS-equipped mobile phones becoming more affordable. Nokia has just announced its Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition, which is expected to go on sale in Q2 2010 at 110 Euro SIM-free (around £99 excl. VAT). The one-piece 'candybar' format Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition – which uses Nokia's Series 40 operating system - has the Nokia Maps application pre-loaded. Basic mapping and route planning is free, with turn-by-turn voice-guided navigation available as a chargeable extra.
